A Glamorous Springtime Celebration At Bassmead Manor Barns

With an elegant colour scheme, fabulous menu and live music, the May wedding of Fiona and Ross was picture perfect in every way.

The Perfect Venue

With a May wedding date in mind, Fiona and Ross were looking for their dream wedding venue. They knew they didn’t want a hotel and were on the hunt for something more intimate. As soon as they arrived at Bassmead Manor Barns, they knew they had found the one!

“The atmosphere was great, and all the areas flowed together. There was literally nothing we didn’t like about it.”

Theme of the Day

The happy couple decided to move away from a rustic theme and embrace a more glamorous style, with flowers and candles as the key elements of décor.

With a colour scheme of blush pink and vintage gold, decorations included ornate candelabra, vases, tea-light holders and wooden table numbers adorned with glitter.

“Flowers by Suzanne Randell featured on all the tables with small vases holding blush pink roses. I wanted people to walk in and be ‘wowed’. The flowers and candlelight certainly helped achieve that and the venue looked absolutely gorgeous.”

All About Outfits

After trying on a number of dresses she didn’t like, Fiona went online to find styles she loved. The beautiful bride chose a gown by St Patrick.

She completed the look with a hair vine and jewellery made by her father as well as an exquisite pair of Jimmy Choo shoes.

“It was understated and simple but with the elegant look I wanted.”

Meanwhile, Ross looked the part in a navy three-piece suit from Moss Bros and the bridesmaids were stunning in blush pink multiway dresses from Coast.

Food, Glorious Food

Following their romantic ceremony in The Rickety Barn, welcome drinks and canapés were served in the garden and the Bridge Barn.

Moving in to dine, the wedding breakfast started with chicken terrine, followed by vodka sorbet, beef cooked two ways and a trio of desserts.

“The beef was absolutely gorgeous and so was the chocolate brownie. Everyone commented on how amazing the food was.”

The First Dance Moment

As day turned to evening, the newlyweds danced their first dance to the Muse version of ‘Feeling Good’ and a live band filled the dance floor.

“We wanted something a bit quirky and different, so my sister choreographed a dance for us. It went so well, and the band did a fabulous job.”

Pizza was the perfect choice for evening food and a fitting finale to this joyous day.

“Our wedding dance was my special moment. We were so stressed about doing it and the cheers and applause made such a difference. I wish we could do it again!”

A Thought from the Bride

“Don’t stress about the planning. It was so worth it in the end. Also – book a videographer. We were advised to get one and we are both so glad we did.”
