Our charming and elegant family-owned barn venue is exclusively yours on your wedding day and we have a range of spaces available for you to use. For summer weddings, consider tying the knot in our new outdoor ceremony area, The Thatched Bower.

With seating for 150 of your guests, the Thatched Bower also offers a waiting area filled with greenery, separated from the main ceremony space with large, rustic doors, ensuring you can still have your big reveal moment before walking down the aisle.

If you’d prefer to get married indoors, you can exchange vows in our historic 300-year-old traditional, beamed Rickety Barn. Featuring original solid oak beams, wooden floors and wrought-iron chandeliers, it boasts an aura of serenity and romance, the ambience highlighted by twinkling fairy lights. Lovingly restored for your special day, it provides the perfect setting for a beautiful and emotional wedding ceremony.

Whether you pick The Thatched Bower of Rickety Barn for your civil ceremony, you can be sure of a beautiful, distinctive and truly luxurious day.

The Perfect Summer Wedding Setting

You’ll start your day at Bassmead in the Boudoir. This purpose-designed preparation area has been effortlessly styled with sophistication, offering a cosy and pretty space set over two floors. Inside you’ll find The Salon, with hair and make-up stations as well as comfy seating, a dressing table, and a full-length mirror among other delicate details. Everything you need to get ready for the big day.

Complementing the character of our two gorgeous ceremony locations, the stylish Bridge Barn and the garden offer an array of options for your post-ceremony drinks reception and the wedding breakfast itself

And finally, at the end of a perfect day, you can head back to the brick-built Dove Cottage as newlyweds. Our impressive honeymoon suite is nestled in a quiet corner of the gardens. This luxury cottage is set over two floors and boasts a beautiful boutique décor, including a sumptuous bed, mahogany furniture, a striking black velvet sofa and distinctive lamps providing mood lighting.

The cosy cottage has its own private patio, spacious lounge, and sophisticated bathroom on the ground floor. Upstairs is a traditional barn-style bedroom with beautiful views of the Cambridgeshire countryside.

At Bassmead, we have an experienced team of specialist wedding event managers and wedding caterers. Our dedicated team is there for you on your wedding planning journey and is always available to help and advise you, making sure your vision can fully come to life.

Using the finest quality seasonal ingredients, our mission is to provide freshly prepared and cooked meals for your guests to be delighted by and remember for years to come. With us, it is more than a meal, it is an experience.

Prior to your wedding day, you will get the opportunity to sit down with your designated Event Manager and discuss your wedding menu and catering requirements in full. We provide a choice of carefully considered wedding packages to take the stress out of your planning process, or you are more than welcome to refine them to suit you.

We cater to all dietary requirements and we even provide table service from the bar so that your guests don’t have to walk anywhere for a beer or gin and tonic. We are all about looking after you and your guests so everyone feels comfortable and relaxed throughout your summer wedding day.

Real Summer Wedding Experiences

Jenny and Phil’s July celebration brought style, love and plenty of fun to Bassmead.

As a teacher, it was important for Jenny to get married during the school summer holidays. Lawn games, a sweet cart, live music, beer barrels, summer cocktails and a photo booth were the key ingredients of their wonderful day.
