A Picture Perfect Summer Wedding At Bassmead Manor Barns

With a vintage colour scheme, personalised details, exquisite menu and informal, relaxed ambience, the summer wedding of Clare and Craig was wonderfully romantic.

The Perfect Venue

Clare had her heart set on a beautiful barn wedding venue and the happy couple were also looking for a great layout where every guest would really feel a part of the wedding. Bassmead Manor proved the perfect choice for their August wedding.

“When we first went to look around the Rickety Barn, it made me cry. The rustic beauty of the barn with the pretty lights just felt really special.”

Theme of the Day

Clare and Craig decided on a rustic theme with a colour scheme of dusky pink and green, a wonderful choice for a relaxed ambience and a perfect complement to the natural beauty of the barn.

Clare enjoyed making a number of the decorations herself (with the help of her bridesmaids!), including a memory table, signs and table runners.

“For our wedding favours, we designed a poem and personalised cocktail recipe to match the personality of each guest.”

All About Outfits

The beautiful bride wore a beaded dress by Justin Alexander, completing the look with Swarovski earrings and pink Kurt Geiger shoes.

Craig looked the part in a navy suit with tartan waistcoat and the bridesmaids chose pink multi way dresses from Victoria Lou Bridal.

Food, Glorious Food

Following their romantic ceremony in the Rickety Barn, welcome drinks and canapés were served in the garden with Mojito’s and Berry Blush cocktails.

“We wanted everything to reflect our personalities. Cocktails are ‘our thing’ so we had cocktail stations and Craig is a doctor in organic chemistry, so our seating plan was an apothecary table.”

For their wedding breakfast, a Scotch egg was served to start, with a sharing board as the main course. Roast beef was a huge success, with one person on each table nominated to carve, and a trio of desserts was the perfect finale.

“The beef was so tender and watching people carve it was hilarious!”

The First Dance Moment

As day turned to evening, Clare and Craig danced their first dance to ‘Shuck Me All Night’ by ACDC.

“It was hard to do a traditional dance, so we did a bit of swaying and Craig rocked it with knee sliding and air guitar!”

Live band, ‘Shine On’ filled the dance floor and an American barbecue was a great choice for summer evening dining. A gin bar and hard lemonade bar also went down a treat.

Favourite Moments

“The bridesmaids wrote a poem all about me and Craig, which I had no idea about. They performed it in front of everyone during the speeches and it was just amazing. They really made us feel special.”

A Thought from the Bride

“Amanda was our event co-ordinator and we absolutely loved her. She was amazing. We literally didn’t have to worry about a thing – she had already thought about it and it was done!”
