A Rustic Summer Wedding At Bassmead Manor Barns

With a delicate colour scheme, beautiful flowers and personalised details, the July wedding of Amy and Terry was a romantic delight.

The Perfect Venue

With a summer wedding date in mind, Amy and Terry were looking for a wedding venue with rustic, country charm and beautiful décor. As soon as they saw Bassmead Manor Barns, they knew it was the place for their special day.

“The venue was perfection. The thing that really sold it to us was the Rickety Barn for our ceremony.”

Theme of the Day

Setting a July wedding date, the happy couple decided on a country theme, bringing the outside in and making everything themselves from reclaimed wood and foliage.

With a lilac colour scheme, pretty flowers were tied to the chairs in the Rickety Barn and these delicate blooms continued throughout the venue. Other decorations included cake stands made from log slices, wooden stag heads and rustic signage made from pallet wood.

“We also had a sweet table with old sweet jars, a ‘love’ sign and slate signs. Terry’s mum did the flowers for us. They were just outstanding.”

All About Outfits

Amy found her perfect gown at Wed 2 Be, a stunning lace bodice with A-line skirt and train.

The beautiful bride completed the look with delicate jewellery including a pearl necklace, rose gold Swarovski bracelet and pretty sandals.

“My mum chose it off the peg and it was ‘the one’. I just wish I could wear it again – I felt stunning.”

Meanwhile, Terry looked the part in a brown suit from Mark Darcy with lilac waistcoat and bow tie. Amy’s bridesmaids wore lilac dresses from Asos, accessorising with simple jewellery. And finally, Amy and Terry’s son stole the show as page boy in cream linen trousers with a white shirt and bow tie.

Food, Glorious Food

Following their romantic ceremony in The Rickety Barn, welcome drinks and canapés were served, alongside a gin bar.

Moving in to dine, smoked bacon Scotch egg was followed by fillet of beef and, for dessert, a triple chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream.

“The beef was locally sourced and cooked to perfection. It’s one of our favourites!”

Favourite Moments

“Probably my mum and dad seeing me just before the ceremony and walking down the aisle seeing Terry at the end.”

A Thought from the Bride

“Don’t think too much about decisions. Go with your heart and make it personal to the two of you as a couple. And just enjoy it – it really does go quickly and you can’t change that!”
