Vintage Summer Romance At Bassmead Manor Barns

Jenny and Phil’s July celebration brought style, love and plenty of fun to Bassmead Manor Barns.

Finding The One

As a teacher, Jenny wanted to get married during the school summer holidays and, with just ten months to plan their wedding, the hunt was on for the perfect venue.

Time To Celebrate

Lawn games, a sweet cart, live music, beer barrels, summer cocktails and a photo booth were the key ingredients of their wonderful day. Guests enjoyed canapés before dining on a goat’s cheese starter followed by fillet of beef and, for dessert, decadent lemon tart from the expert caterers.

As day turned to evening, the happy couple danced their first dance to ‘God Only Knows’ by The Beach Boys. The expert on-site catering team delighted with a fabulous barbecue and… out came the popcorn machine and the sweet cart!

“Phil searched further afield and said he had somewhere to show me,” says Jenny. “As soon as we walked in to Bassmead, I cried and knew it was the one!”

Theme Of The Day

The happy couple wanted to create a relaxed atmosphere and to use the wonderful outside space for their summer celebration. When it came to style, a vintage theme ran throughout the day.

“We looked out for anything country vintage with a splash of sage green and blush pink,” explains Jenny. “The venue was decorated with lace and hessian bunting, sage green hydrangea hanging hearts and jugs of flowers.”

As keen travellers, Jenny and Phil also had photographs of their travels in the room and some traditional globes as a nod to their passion.

And The Happy Couple Wore…

Jenny’s strapless, fishtail gown was from Sottero and Midgely. Made from vintage lace, she completed the look with a tiara and floor length veil. The beautiful bride was accompanied by her three bridesmaids, all wearing sage green.

Phil looked the part in a dark green three-piece wool suit with sage green accessories.

“I had three bridesmaids plus my niece, who was the cutest flower girl. The bridesmaids all wore gorgeous sage green bridesmaid dresses to fit with our theme.”

“It really was the most perfect day. It was my friend’s birthday on the day we got married. She told us that it always rains on her birthday, but we had the most beautiful sunshine!”
